In 2008, two lift stations on Camp Shelby’s sewer network were in need of upgrading. The power scheme for Station 4 was integrated with the medical facility it served and too complex; likewise, the station needed relocation to simplify the arrangement of gravity sewers in the area. Station 6 served an area of the base soon to undergo expansion that would exceed its capacity. Both stations suffered from obsolete and malfunctioning equipment. To meet the base’s higher-ops tempo mission, WGK, Inc., redesigned both stations to include identical pumps for standby failure protection and sub base fuel tanks that hold enough fuel to allow the pumps to operate at full capacity for 24 hours.
- Identical 180 GPM pumps on Station 4, providing peak flow capacity and standby failure protection.
- Demolition of existing wet well/ valve pit.
