During the 2012 SRF project that is part of the WGK Master Plan for the Clarksdale Wastewater Treatment Plant’s rehabilitation, an electrical problem in the UV disinfection system caused complete failure. A separate, emergency repair project was needed to replace the system, and since the SRF loan had already been agreed upon, an application for CDBG funding was sought and approved. The current UV disinfection system was removed and a new vertical-tube system was constructed inside a new operations building. An additional 200 tons of dry sludge were also removed from the facility as part of the CDBG project.
