The Hinds County Youth Baseball Association played for years at a venue named Snake Creek Park, but when the Pearl River Basin Development District provided grant funding to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors for a renovation project, the venue was transformed into MidPoint Baseball Park. Working as the designing engineer for the Board, WGK, Inc. designed a project to rehabilitate the playing fields and install modern accommodations at the park. Specifics of the project included irrigated and sprigged playing fields with backstops, new dugouts, fencing, sports lighting, gravel parking area, concrete sidewalks and plaza, signage and limited landscaping. The existing restroom and concession stand buildings were renovated and relocated onsite, new drainage piping was installed beneath the parking area, new 1-inch and 2-inch water lines were ran to provide tap water and irrigation to the fields and the sewer main and service lines were rehabilitated or replaced. The fields were grassed and trees and shrubs planted to beautify the new park. The total cost of both phases was approximately $675,000.
