With the pristine Natchez Trace Parkway expecting around 1 million annual travelers, the City of Clinton decided to invest in a gateway facility to capture the attention—and the business—of those out-of-town motorists. The $1.7 million Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center was designed to complement the city’s history and heritage, reflecting the architecture of early local estates in a time when Clinton had state capital ambitions. WGK, Inc., performed boundary and topographic surveys of the site, developed the center’s site plan, performed geotechnical and environmental assessments and coordinated the project with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
